Getting Ready for fur-ever: An eight-week progress report, 3.19

This weekend Maple x Moxie's adorable crew will be heading to their fur-ever homes. Famiies are eagerly awaiting their arrival, and have been excitedlty preparing for this special day for weeks now (since visits when they selected their fur-ever pup).

No longer just tiny bundles; they are "little sponges," soaking up every new sight, sound, and smell with typical Cockapoo curiosity.

Here is what our puppies have been up to as they prepare for their big moving day:

1. Social Superstars & Personality Peaks

At this age, each puppy’s unique temperament is truly shining through. Whether they are the "explorer" always first to find a new toy, or the "snuggler" who prefers a lap to a literal dog pile, they are learning vital social cues.

  • Bite Inhibition: Playing with siblings is teaching them how to use a "soft mouth"—a crucial skill for a family pet.

  • Confidence Building: We are following the "7-7-7 Rule," gently introducing them to 7 new surfaces, 7 different sounds, and various friendly people to ensure they are well-adjusted and brave.

2. Physical Feats & Coordination

Their legs have finally caught up with their energy!

  • Fully Weaned: The pups have transitioned completely to high-quality puppy kibble and are eating three to four small meals a day.

  • Agility: They’ve mastered pouncing, wrestling, and even navigating small steps or outdoor terrain.

  • Full Senses: Their vision and hearing are now fully developed, making them much more responsive to their environment and human interaction.

3. Early Learning & "Pre-School" Training

While they are still babies, the foundation for a well-behaved adult dog starts now.

  • Potty Training Foundations: We’ve already introduced a designated "potty area" to encourage their natural instinct to keep their sleeping space clean.

  • Crate Comfort: The puppies have begun spending short, positive periods in a crate to make their first night in your home much easier.

  • Grooming Basics: Cockapoos need a lifetime of coat care, so we’ve started gentle brushing, ear handling, and nail trims now so they find it relaxing later.

4. Health & Protection

To ensure they start off on the right paw, they have received:

  • First Vaccinations & Vet Check: Their initial rounds of protection and a thorough "nose-to-tail" health exam.

Saying good-bye is truly bittersweet, but we are so happy for the wonderful CHC families who will be adding these adorable pups to their families, home and life.  Enjoy! We hope you grow to love them as much as we do!

*Here is their final "formal" photo shoot.

Final Cuddles & Big Adventures: graduation week, 3.16-3.20

Maple and Moxie's Cockapoo puppies have officially reached 'graduation week'.

These final days are a sweet whirlwind of puppy snuggles and "bravery training" milestones. As we get them ready for their forever homes, we’re focusing on essential life skills—like building confidence during car rides, exploring the great outdoors, and learning that the world around them is a wonderful, safe place to be.

We’re going to miss them dearly, but we are so proud of the brave, bouncy companions they’ve become!

Cloudpaw will be making his fur-ever home in Canada.

Princess will be making her fur-ever home in MA.

Cinderpaw will be making her fur-ever home in MA.

Bramblepaw will be making his fur-ever home in MA.

Mistyfoot will be making her fur-ever home in MA.

*These adventures were not all on the same day - my boys just have wardrobe faves. 😄

Everything is Golden: A Six-Week Progress Report, 3.11

Maple and Moxie’s Cockapoo puppies have officially entered their vibrant “golden period.” They are making the exciting transition from dependent infants into adventurous, social individuals. From the first brave pounce on a new toy to the sweet moment they climb into a lap for a nap, their "happy-go-lucky" nature is now on full display.

What’s Happening at Week Six?

  • Social Superstars: We are in the heart of the critical socialization window (4–12 weeks). Our pups are busy learning “dog etiquette” from their mom and siblings. Through play-wrestling and pouncing, they are discovering social hierarchies and the all-important skill of bite inhibition—learning to use a "soft mouth" during play.

  • Brain Power: Their cognitive abilities are soaring! The puppies are now recognizing familiar faces, responding to “puppy-puppy!” calls, and successfully solving "puzzles," such as navigating over steps or through play tunnels.

  • The Big Transition: Weaning is in full swing. Their early meals of softened kibble and formula are being gradually replaced with a complete and balanced diet of crunchy kibble to support their growing bodies.

  • Finding Their Voice: Communication is key! The pups are becoming much more vocal. Play barking, tiny growls, and "play-fighting" are the primary ways they interact and bond with their littermates.

  • Physical Agility: These pups are on the move! With their eyesight and hearing now fully developed, they have become significantly more agile. They’ve officially outgrown their original whelping box and starter pen, trading them in for a much larger play area to accommodate their newfound mobility.

This past weekend, families came to visit and select their fur-ever pup.  I am so happy for each and every puppy and the wonderful family they'll become part of.

'Hello' Socialization Period: A Four-Week Progress Report, 2.21

Maple x Moxie's Warrior Cats Cockapoo puppy litter is 4 weeks today - and have entered the Socialization Period - a truly exciting time in the pups' development!

Since their eyes and ears opened at two weeks, their senses have sharpened, and they are much more aware of their surroundings. Socialization has officially begun! They are playing, mouthing, and even wagging their tails. Their movement is becoming more coordinated as they master moving both forward and backward. Today was a busy day featuring baths, nail trims, and a photo shoot. To build their confidence, we’ve been introducing them to new items and various floor textures—like carpet and wood—all while Mom stays close by to supervise their progress.

From Neonatal to Transitional: A Two-Week Progress Report, 2.7

At 14 days old, Maple's Cockapoo litter has reached the exciting transitional phase. Eyes are opening, and hearing is beginning to function, allowing them to start recognizing the sounds of our home.

We are currently performing daily Early Neurological Stimulation (ENS) with this litter. By performing specific exercises during their first 16 days of life, we are able to strengthen their nervous systems during a period of peak neurological growth, to ensure they grow into the resilient, confident companions Cockapoos are known to be.

Their weights have (more than) doubled since birth, and we couldn't be happier with their progres!

Meet Maple’s newest additions! Born on 1/24, this litter of 5 is off to a great start. Maple is the sweetest, most attentive mother—constantly caring for her "littles."

The pups are eating well and already showing great progress in their growth.
